 It all began in the early 1960’s with what seemed to be a bizarre
suggestion. Known for making high quality, protective safety clothing for
oil refineries, petrochemical plants and fire departments, Standard Safety
Equipment Company received an unusual request from an aerospace company
employee. Circumstances had it that the employee loved to fish as often as
he could. Problem was, he couldn’t because of leaky, flimsy waders. His
request: Make me a pair of waders from the same material that protected his
workers and thousands of others in the safety industry on a daily basis. The
end result: Gralite® Waders and Hip Boots.
